Our Story
LAB was founded in 2013 as the first and only marine baitfish aquaculture company in the USA. Through years of innovation and optimization, LAB has since become the premier source of warmwater marine baitfish, foodfish fingerlings, and a leader in applied aquaculture innovation, restoration, and conservation. Nicole Kirchhoff, Ph.D.
Founder and CEO
Dr. Nicole Kirchhoff is the founder and CEO of Live Advantage Bait, a marine biologist with 18 years commercial aquaculture production experience and a doctorate in aquatic animal health, aquaculture, fisheries and conservation. Nicole grew up in Jupiter, FL but travelled extensively exploring the world’s commercial aquaculture industries including five years in Australia. In Australia, she become a leader in the field of tuna conservation, aquatic animal health, fish welfare, and aquaculture development, making significant contributions to our understanding of the causes of stress to Southern bluefin tuna (SBT), the physiological and immunological impacts of various environmental stressors, and developed several management strategies to enhance fish welfare and commercial performance. Upon returning home, Nicole started Live Advantage Bait LLC (LAB) and in 2022 won Hatchery Internationals top 10 under 40 for her work in hatchery rearing warmwater marine fish, spawning, and disease detection. Currently, Nicole, her husband, and their two young children live in West Palm Beach, FL; avid outdoors enthusiasts, heavily engaged in philanthropy and community outreach.
